School Listening Kit & Lesson Plans…
Register for the Butterfly Appeal and we will send you the Listening Challenge Kit – a great way for your students to learn about the importance of hearing and have fun at the same time including Lesson Plans and Information. The kit also contains information about hearing loss and how it sounds, what causes it, how to look after your hearing, and how the cochlear implant works.
Interesting facts about hearing ...
Did you know that?
- Cicadas have their hearing organs in their stomachs.
- Crickets have their hearing organs in their knees.
- Snakes do not have ears, but their tongues are sensitive to sound vibrations.
- MP3 and CD players can cause hearing damage.
- Extensive periods using mobile Phones can damage hearing so keep the conversation short!
Example of Hearing Loss ...
Look after your hearing…
Young people today are exposed to three times as much social noise as in the 1980s. Visits to nightclubs and rock concerts are among the most common activities responsible for this, as well as Ipods, MP3’s and excessive use of mobile phones.
If you want to maintain your good hearing for as long as possible, you must take care of it.
These interesting facts are included in the School Listening Kit CD which is suitable for both primary and secondary schools to help your students, even those with perfect hearing, understand the importance of looking after their hearing.
